The Emperador Hotel most certainly is NOT a first class hotel. The official rating for the hotel is 4 Star NOT 5. The rroms are small and very simply furnished and if you happen to get a room that has a view to the rear of the hotel then your room is also dark. The price you pay for the room (I paid $298!!! for 2 nights is astounding!!). The service leaves an awful lot to be desired. If you want a drink in the lobby bar and there are more than 4 couples there then i suggest you go elsewhere, unless you are looking forward to a long wait. The hotel cleaners start a around 07:30, O.K if your working but not if your there for a weekend break. Being woken up by the sound of hoovers etc is not my idea of a good hotel! This is componded by the design of the rooms as the door to your room opens directly onto the main corridor, where as a first class hotel has rooms with a small hall/lobby in each room with another separating door, which helps to keep the noise down. In addition the rooms run alongside the corridor rather than away fromt he corridor e.g walk into the room turn left to the sleeping area whic is adjacent to the corridor rather than walk into the room walk ahead past the bathroom then into the bedroom as you will find in the Miguel Angel or Los Galgos etc etc. The breakfeast room is small and the breakfeast choice is very limited and very uninspiring. I’ve experienced better in a two star hotel. The decor too is crying out for renovation with the carpets on the stairs nearly threadbear. All in all if you want to add to your pleasurable experience in Madrid I would suggest that you find a cheaper 4 star hotel or an officially classed 5 star. DEFINATELY NOT RECOMMENDED!

This is the perfect place to stay in Madrid. The hotel is located extremely well, the major shopping area is just outside the door, all nice bars and restaurants are around the corner, taxi’s are passing by every second and a metro-station is in front of the hotel. For me the mean plus of the hotel is the roof terrace with a great swimming pool, rather rare in Madrid and with the nice (and sometimes very hot) weather you feel like a king when you can swim above Madrid with a wunderful view. I have stayed in Madrid both in much cheaper hotels (most of the times also very good because of the strict system) and in the most expensive hotels(like the Ritz and the Wellington), the Emperador certainly gives the best value for money.

this hotel is really fit for emperors – give credence to its name. We loved every part of it and every minute of our Madrid trip. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!
